Meditation is a conscious decision to be more aware
Meditation cannot be forced but the seed of meditation has to be planted in every act of life. When this seed of meditation flowers then its fragrance spreads as love, compassion and grace in our actions.
We can choose anything in our life. We can run after money, sex, fame, power or we can choose meditation over these things. Being meditative in each and every action of our life is a choice. Its not easy due to our long persistence habit of living, thinking mechanically. Nevertheless, it is possible.
A strong determination from our side is required to bring awareness in each and every act of our life. Every nook and corner of our being needs to be lighted with the sun of awareness.
The final choice is ours. In death, We can only take what we have and that is this meditativeness. The rest... money, fame, success, relationships remain here only. Death is the culmination of how one has lived his live.
Osho Meditations - Being Telegraphic, Speak what is Essential
Osho has suggested to talk only what is essential and thus save your energy for higher things in life. The seeker needs more energy than anybody else. We have to use every bit of energy in an intelligent way. This Osho meditation is called 'Being Telegraphic'.
Whenever we have to convey anything to someone then reflect 'is it really essential?. Instead of just thinking, it's better to watch the thoughts which come to surface. Whenever we have to say something then witness that thought or desire. If it is really essential then our consciousness will allow us to convey that message to the other person. Otherwise if it's just a gossip or a part of our mechanical habit of chit-chatting then our awareness will burn that habit over a period of time.
When we are speaking only what is essential then we may have to listen more to what other people has to say. So the second step in this meditation is to witness and see how much rubbish and useless talk most of us indulge in our daily living.
If this habit of talking the essential goes deep into us then sooner or later we will do only essential things in our life. May be many of the non essential things from our home, non essential relationships and contacts, many desires may just disappear from our life. This is the beauty of this meditation. It saves our energy from so many non-essential things which we are doing and the sad thing is that we are not even aware of these habits. As a meditator and seeker we can't afford to waste time in doing things which are not required.
A intellectual or a philosopher may say that nothing is non-essential. Everything is beautiful and has a place in life. But on a practical level, we should watch this habit of intellectualizing everything and thus missing meditation.
Osho Therapies - Therapy should lead to meditation

Osho is the only enlightened master who has used therapies for taking us deep in to meditation. According to Osho, at the time of Buddha and Lao Tzu therapies were not needed as people were innocent and they could be easily taken into meditation. But the modern men has lost his innocence and has become too much knowledgeable and has lost contact with existence.
So, the need for therapies, is to give back our innocence and make us simple and natural. Therapies are designed to release the childhood traumas, repressed anger, pain and hurtful feelings. Therapies are a quick way to release the burden of these repressed feelings, pain, trauma and intellectual knowledge so that we feel light and natural again.
There are some keys points which should be kept in mind while doing Osho Therapies.
- Meditation should be center of Osho therapies. According to Osho, the whole therapy system should revolve around meditation and if the person does not know meditation then he should be introduced to meditation.
- In most of the Osho therapies, the last stage is of meditation. This is because after releasing the garbage from our system we are ready and can go deep into meditation and this is the right time to meditate and experience the beauty and silence which comes with meditation.
- Doing therapies or groups can become another obsession with us. So, we have to be careful of the mind game. According to Osho, therapies are just to take us into meditation and we should not get stuck with therapies. Importance should always be given to meditation.
To make things more clear, lets take the example of a small child who is learning to walk. Initially, the child needs to hold the finger of his father for walking but soon he has to walk on his own without the help of the father. Similarly we should use therapies and move on to meditation as soon as possible. - While doing therapies, we have to be sincere, otherwise many people get stuck at the therapy level. After doing therapy most people are bound to feel light and better as we have released much negative emotions. But all the effort goes waste, if therapy does not lead to meditation. If therapy does not bring any transformation in us then more or less we are the same person and might end up doing these therapies every year unless we learn to meditate.
- Therapies are not essential for everyone. So, is Osho active meditations. One can simply start with Osho passive meditations, if one is ready. According to Osho's instructions its better if we start with Active meditations. We should then see how the active meditation is affecting us. If we feel intutively that the active meditation is not suiting us, then we should drop them.
- I know many people who have not done any Osho therapies but still they are very good meditators. Therapies are just an aid and not essential for every one. For some people, doing therapies can be a very beautiful experience and for some people therapies may not have any relevance in their journey.
Revisiting Rajneeshpuram Part 1: Antelope & The Drive to the Ranch
Nura, Sambodhi, Felix and Samarpan took a daytrip to the former Rajneeshpuram, now Wildhorse Ranch, an outdoor camp run by Young Life Ministries. Since Nura & Sambodhi were teachers at Antelope School, and Felix was a student there, we had a lot of reminiscing to do, both in Antelope and on the road that we traveled twice a day, almost everyday.
Meditation is easy for those who really wants to meditate

Meditation is easy if we put our heart and total attention into it. But many times meditation is not the most important activity in our life and it is just any another activity in our life. In that scenario, meditation does not come easily and it becomes difficult to go deep into meditation.
According to Osho, Meditation should be the top priority in a meditator's life. If we have to skip a meal so that we can meditate then according to Osho we should skip that meal and meditate. Meditation is such a delicate thing that it takes months to grow but just a day or two to wither away. A delicate thing needs much regularity, continuity. Meditation is the highest; everything else is secondary.
Any area of our life in which we put our energy grows. Similarly, meditation flowers only when we are sincere about it and we nurture it every day. More regular we are in our meditation practice, more depth will come in our meditation. When meditation becomes the most essential thing in our life and rest all becomes secondary then meditation becomes very easy and spontaneous.

Nature is one of the best healing force in the world

Many times in our life, we get so much involved in the office or household things that we lose touch with our inner self. At that time spending time in the nature could be one of the best thing we can do. Nature is one of the best healing force in the world which can instantly charge our batteries.
Running water, fresh air, trees, birds adds lot of peace and natural Prana to our life. Sound of running water or the chirping of birds is the best music we can ever hear, in case we have the ears to listen. Very often, it is easier to do meditation under a big tree than to meditate in a closed room. Running water, fresh air, open spaces and trees not only gives us charged prana but they also cleans our aura. That is one of the reason we always feel charged when we spend time in nature.
But many people don't value the importance of nature in their life. In current time, when global warming has become a big threat to the mankind then it is very important that we not only use our natural resources judiciously but we should plant more trees and conserve the nature in its purest form.

Osho No Dimensions Meditation video
Osho No Dimensions Meditation is a powerful method for centering one's energy. It is based on a Sufi technique of movements for awareness and integration of the body. It is a non-serious meditation. In fact it is so non-serious that you can even smile while you are doing it.
Osho Whirling Meditation Video
Whirling meditation is one of the important meditation technique used by Osho. Whirling is basically a sufi meditaton technique which is very much used by Sufi mystic Rumi.
Revisiting Rajneeshpuram Part 2 The Ranch from the County Road
Approaching downtown, it was fun pointing out the buildings we recognized along the county road, naming them, and remembering. Most are still standing, but as far as we know, they are not in use. The buildings being actively used are concentrated between Jesus Grove and the townhouses.
Revisiting Rajneeshpuram Part 3: Tour with our official guide, Gaylord, First Half
Gaylord is a Young Life volunteer and was very pleased and proud to show us what the camp offered. Although they have added on to what was originally there, we built most of the structures being used, so discussing the site's history was inevitable. Some of their additions were enviable: a swimming pool, a swimming lagoon, and a ropes course. We were also able to see the townhouses and the remaining Rolls Royce garages.
Revisiting Rajneeshpuram Part 4: Tour with Gaylord, Second Half
The centerpiece of this half was Rajneesh Mandir. It has been transformed in every way possible, and has become a sports/athletics complex, (basketball courts, roller blade ramps, ping pong tables, exercise equipment, and more), complete with restrooms and laundry . We also got to see inside their cafeteria, and drove past the hotel that now houses the campers, one quad for boys and the other for girls.

Meditation is all about dis-identifying with body-mind
Dis-identification with thoughts means when any thought comes to us then we know that it is just a thought and we witness that thought as it comes and leaves on its own. Many times it happens that a thought appears in our mind and we get attached to it and we think and behave as if we had thought a beautiful idea. This attachment with a thought is identification.
In reality, no thought belongs to us and all thoughts come from outside. This identification with the thoughts that this is 'My thought' makes the mind strong. Dis-identification means we know that no thought belongs to us and we passively witness it.
In meditation we become detached and witness all the thoughts and feelings as they come and go on their own. Nothing belongs to us except the inner silence. All ideas and desires belongs to the mind and these desires exist as long as we give energy to them by getting identified with them. We just need to stay separate and witness the desires.
If we just witness a thought with out analyzing, interpreting or judging it, then we don't get identify with that thought and that thought does have any meaning for us. This passive witnessing of a thought brings dis-identification with the thought and this passive witnessing is the beginning of meditation in our life.
Seeking Enlightenment can become another source of mind trick
Meditation does not have any aim or motive behind it. If we meditate just because we have any goal to be achieved through meditation then we can never go deep into meditation or we can never know what meditation is all about. If we are achieving nothing through meditation, then a newcomer will always ask the reason for doing so much meditation?
But the essential question to be asked is why we want to be enlightened? Why we are seeking enlightenment so much? There could be 2 answers to this question. That is, many of us may want to escape this sad life and many will be desiring bliss through enlightenment.
In both the above scenarios (escaping sadness or desiring bliss) we are not interested in knowing oneself and enlightenment is all about being oneself and knowing oneself. So, instead of desiring for bliss or escaping sadness it will be more authentic if we try to know oneself and be aware of mind which is producing this escapist tendency in us.
In short, seeking enlightenment can become another source of mind trick through which we are avoiding the reality or missing life. According to Osho, we should live this life with awareness and not become escapist. Osho Sannyas is all about living in the world yet being untouched by the world.
Mind can enter through many doors and seeking enlightenment can also become one of those doors through which mind can enter. But it does not mean that we should not put effort for enlightenment. We should make every effort for enlightenment but we should also be more aware of our desires behind all our motives and actions. So that mind does not fool us by any means.

Meditation demands totality and all our energy

Meditation flowers in our life when we bring our totality in it. Half-hearted results does not bring half results in the world of meditation but they always bring zero results. Meditation demands totality and our total attention.
Meditation is more subtle and sensitive than a new born child or a flower. It needs even more care and attention than a baby. In fact, meditation only flowers in our life, when it becomes the center stage of our life. When it becomes the part of every activity, every action and everything we do.
Osho has said that a planet will only start flowering, when it has extra energy. Whenever we see a rose or a lotus then it means that the plant had the extra energy to give birth to a flower. Plant share its extra energy in the form of a flower and its fragrance.
Similarly meditation can only flower when we close all the doors from where our energy is leaking and direct that energy towards meditation. There are many areas and activities of life which are just sucking away our energy and time. A intelligent meditator should release the energy from such activities and direct them for meditation. In a meditator life, meditation has to be the center from where all his/her actions springs.

Guru Purnima day is to remember all buddhas and the buddha inside us
7th July is a full moon day. Full moon night is a very special night for meditation as the energy of the moon is very supportive for meditation. But this full moon is special for every seeker. As it is celebrated through out the world as Guru Purnima Day or Master's day celebration. Guru Purnima day is dedicated to all the buddhas and an inspirational day to awaken the buddha inside us.The full moon night is called as purnima, as moon becomes perfect on this day and it completes its journey. Similarly on every Guru Purnima, the Full moon is dedicated to all the Buddhas who have realized their Buddhahood and have completed their journey of truth. Many people celebrate this day as a thanksgiving for the master. If some one is very sensitive then one can definitely feel the presence of Osho on this day much more than any other day.
From a meditation point of view it is also very important. As many Osho sannyasins will be celebrating this day all over the world and it make a circle of energy and uplift the energy of every one connected in the Osho mandala.
Many people, specially in zen monastries sit in the night and watch the full moon till midnight, when it comes directly above the earth. One has to just watch the moon and no need to pay any attention to any thought or feeling, Just see the beauty of moon. Let the eyes be relaxed, unfocused. Let there be no motive behind this meditation. Just enjoy the beauty of full moon.

Osho Whirling meditation technique - Sufi Whirling technique

Sufi Whirling is one of the most ancient technique used by Sufi Mystics. Sufi master Jalaluddin Rumi has specially used this technique and he became enlightened while doing whirling meditation. It is believed that he did whirling for 36 hours continuously non-stop, before he became awakened. Whirling is a very powerful technique and a single experience can bring a big transformation in us.
According to Osho, we have to do the whirling meditation with open eyes, just like small children go on whirling. Every child loves whirling as it gives a feeling of inner centering or it connects us with our center. According to Osho, we have to do whirling meditation as if our inner being has become a center and our whole body has become a wheel, moving - the way a potter’s wheel is moving. We are in the center, but the whole body is moving. The Whirling technique has 2 stages.
First Stage: 45 minutes
Keep your eyes open and feel the center point of your body. Lift your arms to shoulder height, with the right hand palm up and the left hand low, palm down. Start turning around your own axis. Let your body be soft and relax. Start slowly. In this technique we become a whirlpool of energy – the periphery a storm of movement.
- Start the whirling slowly, clockwise. If somebody feels that it is very difficult to move in clockwise direction then try anti-clockwise, but the rule is to move clockwise. Few people who are left-handed they may feel that it is difficult to move clockwise, then they can move in anti-clockwise. In reality 50% of people should be left handed but because of society interference only ten percent of people are left-handed. So if we feel uneasy while doing whirling in clockwise, then move anti-clockwise; but start with clockwise and feel what is right for you. Music played for whirling meditation is to help us in the technique.
- We have to start the whirling very slowly, no need to go fast in the first 15 minutes. Just enjoy the slow whirling for the first 15 minutes. Next 15 minutes should be more faster and one can increase the speed of whirling. and the third 15 minutes even more faster, just mad. With our total energy in the whirling we become a become a whirlpool, an energy whirlpool, lost completely in it: no witnessing, no effort to observe. No effort to see or witness. We just need to be the whirlpool, Just the whirling.
- In the beginning, we may not be able to do whirling technique for so long, but we should, not stop the whirling by our self. There is no need to stop, keep on whirling. Although it may be difficult and there might be a division within us. One part wants to lie down and another wants to continue. Then for this scenario, Osho instructions is to continue with the whirling. In case our body is too much tired and it is impossible to do whirling then our body will fall down automatically. In such a scenario, If we fall down in the middle of the hour, on our own, then there is no problem; the process is complete.
But we should not allow the mind to play its tricks with our self. No need to deceive our self; No need to entertain the thinking that now we are tired and it is better to stop. According to Osho - Don't make it a decision on your part to fall down. If we are tired, then how can we go on? we will fall down automatically. So no need to stop ourself; let the whirling itself come to a point where we fall down.
When the music stops then let your body fall to the ground. (it may already have happened before.) When we fall down, then we should fall down on our stomach; and it will be good if our stomach is in direct touch with the earth. Otherwise roll onto your stomach immediately so that your navel is in contact with the earth. Feel your body blending into the earth and close the eyes
According to Osho instructions - While lying down on the earth, feel as if you are lying down on the breast of your mother, as if a small child is lying down on the breast of his mother. There is no need to witness any thing. Become completely unconscious.
Some more key points for help:
- For the whirling meditation, our stomach should be empty. One should not eat food and then do this meditation. This may cause vomiting or nausea.
- Keep your physical condition in mind before attempting this technique. eg: for a heart patient, this method may be harmful.
- Wear Loose comfortable clothes.
- While whirling, our gaze should be unfocused on the outside things but focused on the inner space. Some people might feel uncomfortable or dizzy while seeing everything moving so quickly outside. So as a help, these people can look at the palm of the right hand(which is raised upwards) while whirling.
Jiddu Krishnamurti Teachings for a Osho Sannyasin

Jiddu Krishnamurti is one of the most important enlightened master of the last century. His Teachings are very relevant for a seeker or for an Osho sannyasin. But most often, He is labeled as too serious or as an intellectual person or just a philosopher. He is very often ignored by many people as they think he is very serious and just a philosopher.
Osho has said many times that Jiddu Krishnamurti is very serious and criticized him on many points. But at the same time nobody loved Jiddu Krishnamurti more than Osho. Osho has praised J Krishnamurti many times and has asked his sannyasins to attend the talks of Jiddu Krishnamurti. So, whenever Jiddu Krishnamurti used to visit India, then Osho sannyasins used to sit in the front row in orange clothes and listen to his talks. The funny side of the story is that Jiddu Krishnamurti did not used to like Osho disciples sitting in front row and sometimes used to get irritated seeing them.
There are many Sannyasins of Osho who love Jiddu Krishnamurti and read his books. I am also a big admirer of Jiddu Krishnamurti's teachings and have decided to dedicat this post to the great master who is often ignored by many people.
As a seeker becomes more mature on the path, then understanding Jiddu Krishnamurti becomes more easier and also becomes more important as Jiddu Krishnamurti is very much focused in his approach to discuss any issue. No wonder, many mature sannyasins of Osho, read both J Krishnamurti and Osho Books.
According to my understanding, Jiddu Krishnamurti was not serious but Sincere in his approach. When I read Jiddu Krishnamurti then I see, he is more focused on our present problems, suffering and the confusion in day to day living. He might look serious, because he does not tell any jokes on the stage but is totally focused to have a sincere conversation about the truth. Someone who is really seeking and wants to read book of an enlightened master, then that person must read Jiddu Krishnamuri books at least once before ignoring him.
For a new person on the path, it will be difficult to directly understand Jiddu Krishnamurti's teachings. Understanding Jiddu Krishnamurti needs a maturity and a base of practicing meditation for some time. Although essential practice on which Osho and Jiddu Krishnamurti both have put emphasis is Awareness. But Jiddu Krishnamurti is against using any kind of techniques. So, someone who is grounded in his meditation can understand the importance of Jiddu Krishnamurti's words. If someone has not meditated then Jiddu Krishnamurti may look very serious and dry as He is not giving us any method to practice. It is very rare that someone can become aware without using any meditation technique in the beginning.
So, Osho teachings and Osho meditation techniques act as a preparation and once one has become mature then Jiddu Krishnamurti's teachings can ignite more fire in the person than that of Osho's words. Here, I don't intend to compare the two masters or undermine one over the other. But my only intention is to say that Jiddu Krishnamurti is more focused and sincere in pointing at truth. Whereas Osho approach is more towards relaxation and adding celebration. That's one of the reason that J Krishnamurti is termed as a serious person.
If I am giving too much importance to Jiddu Krishnamurti teachings in this post then that might be because J Krishnamurti is very easily ignored in the Osho world and the second most important reason is that many times we become so much used to Osho words that it does not hit us so hard as it used to do in the beginning. In many cases Osho words has only produced a new set of conditioning for many people as they not have practiced meditation and Jiddu Krishnamurti teachings can act as a lightning for those people and shake them from within.
In the end, I will say it again - Jiddu Krishnamurti teachings needs a little mature mind and a meditation background.
